During my course in cloud computing, I had the opportunity to learn about Amazon Web Services (AWS), each week learning about different services and using them in a simple lab.

Towards the end of the course, I was challenged to design a full architectural solution using AWS to support a website, handling varied traffic, a database, and availability in the case of a server failure. I started by designing my architecture using Figma and the standard AWS icon library to represent each service, estimated and optimized my costs using the AWS pricing calculator, then implemented the architecture within the lab environment.

Diagram of various AWS services working together to form the architecture, including availability zones, VPC with 4 subnets, web servers in an auto scaling group, and a database.

This course and project really opened my eyes to the power of cloud computing and it was really exciting to see how AWS and other cloud platforms can be used to build scalable and reliable applications. I'm looking forward to learning more and applying these skills in more real world projects as I build a greater understanding of cloud computing.
